Transitioning to the Wheel
Part I on Saturday, January 7th 1pm-3pm and Part II on Saturday, January 21st 1pm-3pm
Registration Deadline: Friday, January 6 – 5:00pm
Students are recommended to know the basic concepts of spinning. If they already have a wheel, they should bring it to class to learn the specifics of how to use theirs. Limited wheels will be available for practice.
This class is great for those who have maybe tried a spindle, but decided it wasn’t for them, or have even tried the spinning wheel before and want some extra guidance and tips. Part I is all about wheel anatomy and practice treading, as well as working towards getting fiber on to the bobbin. Part II will be a reminder of plying and finishing, but mostly focusing on advanced spinning techniques of how to measure, record, and prepare handspun yarns for a final project. Mel will also share tips on how you can use Ravelry as a tool to find projects for your handspun yarns.
