Spin Together is a week-long team-based spinning competition taking place February 22 through March 1 of 2025. It is a joy-filled event full of spinning and camaraderie. You do not have to be an expert spinner or even own a spinning wheel to participate. You can spin beautiful yarn on a drop spindle, eSpinner OR spinning wheel.
The event is worldwide takes place in person and/or online from wherever you are. We are so happy to be able to bring spinners from everywhere together virtually! The West 7th Woolies Team will be hosting daily in-person events during the week, but if you are not able to attend any of those you can participate with us virtually on our team’s FaceBook Page. If you’re not a FaceBook user – don’t worry, I’ll be keeping you updated through emails.
Here are the important dates to know:
- You can join our team anytime between January 28th and February 15th.
- The Spin Together competition will begin at noon wherever you are on Fabruary 22 and end at noon wherever you are on March 1.
The fee to join a team is $15. You can sign up for the team of your choice beginning on January 28th and ending on February 15th. We suggest signing up as early as possible, as teams are limited to 25 members. Anyone age 18 or above can take part so long as the laws of their country do not prohibit doing so in any way.
The organization is making some big changes this year! They want to encourage you to spin in any way that you enjoy, and they want to decrease your stress level rather than increase it. With those goals in mind, they are doing away with the yardage contests altogether for 2025. Instead, they will have seven different creative categories. They feel this encompasses the joy of spinning more than the stress of trying to spin as much as humanly possible in a week. The hope is that every spinner will find at least one category that fits their spinning goals and preferences. If you’d like to just hang out with us and spin during the competition and not compete – you are absolutely welcome to. You don’t have to register if you don’t want to compete.
I’ve come up with a tentative schedule for in person spinning at West 7th Wool – and I am happy to turn on our Zoom channel during any and all of these events should there be a request to do so – please email me (info@west7thwool.com) the day before. (We don’t have a paid Zoom account, so Zoom sessions are 30 minutes long with a 10 -15 minute break between sessions).
